Eleven Families Blessed

Five years ago when House of Light began, we were excited to be able to help ten families in need throughout an entire year.

Today, we were able to bless 11 families in one day.

House of Light finished the 2017 year utilizing our partners in moving, All My Sons Moving and Storage, to help us provide full houses of furnishings to three Family Tree families. While they were off delivering in north Aurora, six Family Tree families met us at storage and loaded up their vans and trucks with help from our missionary friends. Meanwhile, two volunteers delivered dressers and bedding to two additional families for Aurora Housing.

During this season of giving, our hearts are full with the gift of being able to continue to partner with so many families in the Aurora community. To know that children and parents will have cozy beds during the holidays, sofas to snuggle on while celebrating the season and dining tables to gather around, gives us great joy.

We couldn’t do this without our wonderful caseworkers, our generous supporters, our moving partner and our volunteers. Thank you for helping us grow each year, so that we can help more families.

Tonight 37 individuals, 29 of whom are children, will go to sleep in beds. The need is great and this is why House of Light exists.

November 9 Drop-off

Yesterday, House of Light partnered with Aurora Housing to help furnish a home for a family of six, including five children ages newborn to eleven. Living without a home is devastating for adults, but may we never forget the toll it takes on the children. Thank you for partnering with us so that these children can sleep safe and sound in a bed just for them!

Four Homes Furnished, Passing the 100 Mark!

House of Light furnished four homes this month, exceeding 100 total homes the in the last five years. This furniture drop was the first working with our new partner, All My Sons Moving. They arrived early at our storage unit and quickly packed up the truck with furnishings and beds for the four families.

We feel so incredibly grateful to have them working alongside its members! This allows our other volunteers to spend extra time visiting with and praying with our families as All My Sons unloaded the furnishings.

Thanks to All My Sons, and thanks to all as we pass this historic milestone as a non-profit!

As Always, a God Thing.

Last Friday House of Light volunteers loaded up a moving truck with sofas, beds and bedding, pots and pans, and dishes for two families. The truck pulled away from our storage unit as the case worker called with addresses! Although we got off to an uncertain start, there was a sweet woman who received beds for her and her son. She was overwhelmed and brought to tears by the fact that she and her son would have beds to sleep on. Delivering furniture to this family worked out. As always, it was a God thing!

Pancake Breakfast

We wanted to thank our supporters for helping us turn houses into homes. On August 12, we celebrated with a pancake breakfast, complete with yard games, community, and even the local legend, Balloon Boy. Thanks to Flippin’ Flapjacks and Carino coffee too!

We couldn’t make an impact on our city the way we do without our supporters—thank you!

Caseworkers and Truckloads

Today we had the honor of meeting three of our caseworkers, sending them along with truckloads of goods!

Caseworkers play a pivotal role in what we do at House of Light, helping us get the right support to the right people.
